Minecraft update 1.4 adds Ranged Witch Mobs

In Minecraft version 1.4, often known as the “Pretty Scary Update,” witches, a new ranged mob class, will be added to the game in order to prepare for Halloween. This update is also known by its colloquial name.

The information was shared on the Twitter account of Mojang designer Nathan Adams, who questioned how one might construct the magical archetype while adhering to Minecraft’s cuboid visual norms. The news originated from this account.

Adams asked his followers on Twitter, “How do you even design a witch anyway?” “Pointy nose? In a universe made of blocks, it would look like Pinocchio!”

In the tweets that followed, Adams provided more clarification that the Witch would be a ranged attacker and would have “a less conventional witch appearance and have a ‘offshoot villager’ sorta thing.” Additionally, he made a reference to a “magical nose that wiggles,” although this might have been a Bewitched allusion all along; the aesthetics of Minecraft may not allow for the level of detail necessary to witness a nose-wiggle in real life.

The release of Minecraft version 1.4 is slated to occur somewhere around Halloween this year. Check out this round-up on PCGamesN for further details on the material that will be included in the update.
