‘Left 4 Dead 2’ almost had ‘The Cabin in the Woods’ DLC

Left 4 Dead 2’s Cabin in the Woods DLC pack was cancelled owing to a lack of funding.

Goddard said on Reddit that a Cabin in the Woods expansion pack for Left 4 Dead 2 had been scrapped owing to financial difficulties.

Kristen Connolly and Chris Hemsworth feature in The Cabin in the Woods, a horror comedy that came out in theatres this past April. In answer to a question regarding the L4D2 easter egg in the film, Goddard disclosed the ill-fated DLC bundle. His response, which contains film spoilers, provided information on the location of the DLC.

When MGM went bankrupt, “we were originally planning to produce a downloadable L4D2 pack, where you would battle in the Cabin world,” explained Goddard. Even so, we were allowed to utilise some of Valve’s creatures to populate the backdrop cubes since “the guys at Valve were still cool.”

Goddard added, “By the way—the game was going to be spectacular.” There were two worlds to play in: the upstairs “Cabin in the Woods” world, and the downstairs “Facility” world, which had creatures in both.

Believe me, I’m not a fan of movie-based video games; they always stink, but putting Cabin inside Left 4 Dead seemed like the right match.” stated Goddard. “It hurts me that it never happened.”
