Wii U supports two GamePads, Nintendo confirms

Wii U supports two GamePads, Nintendo: A Nintendo representative confirmed at E3 2012 that two Wii U GamePads may be used in tandem.

E3 2012 verified that two GamePad controllers may be used simultaneously on the Wii U.

Only one of the Wii U touchscreen controllers could interface with the system at a time, while the other Wii Remotes were used to play multiplayer games during E3 last year. This year at E3, Nintendo will emphasize single GamePad experiences, with twin GamePad games to be shown off in the future, according to Nintendo of America CEO Reggie Fils-Aime.

The new Wii U GamePad features relocated buttons, rubberized thumbsticks, and an improved Home button, as detailed by Nintendo. There will be a headphone port, gyroscope controls, and force feedback rumble on the Wii U GamePad as well. To learn more about Nintendo’s new Wii U GamePad, check out Polygon’s in-depth review.
